Violet Hour
An Empress Gin Cocktail Recipe with Sparked Luminade
After creating our Sparked Luminade with butterfly pea flower, the same vibrant superfood that gives Empress Gin its signature colour, we knew a cocktail was inevitable.
So, naturally, we took on the very important task of recipe testing. (Company expense, obviously.) A bottle of Empress Gin, a kitchen full of our team, and the end of a long juice day turned into one very delicious mission.
The result? The Violet Hour, a refreshing, colour-changing summer cocktail that's equal parts beautiful, easy to make, and perfect for patio nights, golden hour, and celebrating the season we've been waiting all year for.
Cheers to feeling good... with a little gin.

What is Butterfly Pea Flower?
Butterfly pea flower is a vibrant blue flower that's been enjoyed for centuries throughout Southeast Asia. Naturally rich in antioxidants, it's most famous for its stunning colour changing magic.
When mixed with something acidic like lemon or lime, the blue pigments transform into beautiful shades of purple and pink, making it such a fun cocktail ingredient.
Beyond its gorgeous colour, butterfly pea flower contains naturally occurring anthocyanins, plant compounds with antioxidant properties. While we love it for the wellness benefits, we'll admit... watching your cocktail change colour might be our favourite part.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 1 oz gin
- 4 oz Sparked Luminade
- Citrus for garnish, optional
- Ice
- Splash of sparkling water
Enjoy!
XO, Andrea
